Yesterday at the fabric counter at walmart, a boy who was about 10 years old had asked the clerk a question. His Dad said to his son, "You are so STUPID." I walked right over to that boy and said to him "You are NOT stupid." Then I turned to the Dad and said, "Don't you be telling him that." They walked off. I couldn't believe I had done that. Guess I'm not as shy as I always thought I was! It is just such a trigger for me when anyone tells a child he/she is a 'no good.' They are trying so hard to make sense of this old world and all of us adults should be helping them. With gentleness and love whenever possible.
